Altano welcomes Elder’s Equine Veterinary Service
Altano is excited to welcome Elder’s Equine Veterinary Service, a leading Canadian equine practice, as a partner. Elder’s Equine has been a trusted practice in the Winnipeg-Southeastern Manitoba area since it first opened in 1967, and now, through its partnership with Altano, combines its more than five decades of local expertise with the global reach of Altano’s worldwide network to better serve clients.
In 2012, Dr. Chris Bell took the reins of the practice from founder Dr. Norm Elder, carrying on the tradition of providing excellent equine veterinary care while also innovating the practice.

In 2024, the practice brought in MRI-CT imaging machines, the first combination in Canada. Those machines, as well as the employees extensive veterinary experience, aid in advanced diagnosis in sports medicine. In addition, Elder’s Equine provides racetrack veterinary services, focusing on the specific needs of those equine athletes. Partnering with Altano allows Elder’s Equine’s employees to access the innovation and professional development tools across the network.
With a depth of experience and institutional continuity in the Winnipeg-Manitoba area, clients flock to Elder’s Equine to receive care they trust. A full-service practice, Elder’s Equine provides dental services, surgical services, internal medicine, and preventive, reproductive and regenerative medicine, and in-hospital care while also serving their area with ambulatory services. A renovation of the facility in 2020 allowed for the creation of a year-round lameness center, a first for its area.
Six veterinarians and four registered veterinary technicians serve the equine community. In addition to providing veterinary services, Elder’s Equine supports the horse industry by sponsoring local events and groups with prizes and monetary donations, giving back to their area.
