We are pleased to welcome Equine Sports Medicine (ESM) to Altano, a North Texas-based practice whose commitment to the equine athlete aligns strongly with our own values. Originally founded by Dr. Alan Donnell and Dr. Dave Frisbie, ESM was built on a promise to deliver the highest quality care to performance horses. Today, co-owners Dr. Josh Donnell, Dr. Cameron Stoudt and Dr. Sherry Johnson continue this proud tradition, bringing a unified vision of excellence in surgery, sports medicine and rehabilitation.
We admire the practice’s comprehensive approach that streamlines care throughout their three divisions (clinic division in Pilot Point, TX, mobile division that serves the nation’s largest western performance horse shows and their rehabilitation division with centers in both Whitesboro, TX and Scottsdale, AZ). From lameness and pre-purchase exams to advanced imaging, acute care, and performance evaluations, their team supports horses precisely where and when they are needed.

The goal of ensuring equine performance athletes are healthy and optimized for competition is foremost. With an expanding surgical center and state-of-the-art rehabilitation programs including patient-specific prescription of modalities such as aquatic therapy and fully customized physical therapy—ESM stands at the forefront of individualized recovery for athletic horses, and continues to be the only board-certified (DACVSMR) overseen rehabilitation centers in the states of Texas and Arizona.
